How to Perfect Your Golf Swing

Perfecting your golf swing is a process of correcting small errors and gaining technique to create the prefect swing. Correcting the swing takes time and practice, but using the following tips can move you toward the perfect swing.

  1. First: Adjust your arms

Pay attention to how your hands and arms are positioned during the swing. As your arms come down to the point where you make contact with the ball, look at the position of your hands and arms. Keep your forearms as close together as possible, and flick your wrists as you reach the impact zone, like you would flick a fishing pole.

  2. Second: Keep your legs straight

Many golfers make the mistake of dropping their left knee and allowing their frame to collapse as they move into the backswing. This drops the shoulder and creates instability in the hips. Hold a basketball between your knees as you practice the swing, the ball does not allow the knee to collapse and teaches you what it feels like to stay in the correct frame.

  3. Third: Pause at the top

Many golfers make the mistake of swinging too quickly and their form and their line-up on the ball suffers. Pause at the top, before the downswing. This helps keep a rhythm to the swing and ensures the ball lands in the fairway more often. Improving your golf swing is a process of fixing or adding technique to your existing game. Practice these and other swing skills over time until the swing reaches ultimate perfection.
